Any craft can be learnt and painting is
nothing else to start with.
Whether artistic expression can be achieved is another matter.
But it is certainly advantageous to master the medium.
The more a technique is apparently simple and yields rapid results,
is in reality highly
complex as each brush stroke must be perfect. This applies to water
colours just as to
(good) paintings with impasto applied oil. Acrylic and oil painting
lend themselves to
approach an appealing result in small stages by piling on several transparent
glazes.
